Tam Yiu-chung, GBS, JP, (simplified Chinese: 谭耀宗; traditional Chinese: 譚耀宗; pinyin: Tán Yaòzōng; born 15 December 1949, Hong Kong) is a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, representing the New Territories West constituency. He was a member of the Executive Council from 1997 to 2002. He is the chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB).

Education and background

Tam studied Adult Education at Australian National University and Trade Union Studies at the London School of Economics.

He is a Justice of the Peace and holds the Gold Bauhinia Star.

Politics and political positions

Tam was elected DAB Chairman following the death from cancer of the previous chairman Ma Lik on 29 August 2007. He had been acting chairman for the preceding three weeks.

Tam and his party take a consistent pro-government, pro-Beijing line.
